Virtual testing is a technique which enables investigation of certain product characteristics through use of realistic models. Numerous tests can be simulated to assess the performance of concept designs and therefore speed up the design phase, improve the design quality and reduce the need for field tests. To simulate reality as close as possible the following behavior can be modeled:

– Stiffness & strength
– Damage/crack growth & fatigue
– Thermal effects
– Instability & Dynamics
– Fluid flow & Magnetism
ALE has extensive experience with modeling of composites for amongst other aerospace industry and is specialized towards characterization of lightweight materials for creation of models that can accurately predict damage and failure effects. Next to our custom written tools the following industry-standard analysis software is used: Abaqus, Matlab and Solidworks.
